2017 Boundary Waters CX Race Report

A glorious early fall day greeted racers for the first Parks-Law.com Georgia Cyclocross Series p/b Terrapin race. Boundary Waters provided a challenging course. There were a couple of changes from previous years including some of the turns in the upper field and the addition of a short hill and whoop de doo on the lake side. Grayson Tudor State Farm provided the Jekyll Heckle Pit with lots of good natured fun and food. Rob Evans was on the mike calling all of the races. Almost 300 racers came close to a Georgia Cyclocross Series for record attendance. Fast, fast, fast was the name of the day! Several of the fields stayed together until well past their half way points.

In the Elite Women, Mackenzie Myatt (Rescue Project/Stratton Interiors) took an early lead and did not look back. Judah Sencenbaugh was 2nd with Molly Russell (LNC Race Team p/b Slim Wonder Wears Socks) rounding out the podium. With new blood in the Elite Women, the long time racers have their work cut out for them!

In the Pro/1/2 Men, Nicholas Van Winkle (Litespeed-BMW) got to work early with his winning ways. Artur Sagat (Pioneer Mortgage p/b Yourkey.com) was second. Wesley Garland (Team Mission Source/NCGA) was not content to only win the Masters 1/2/3 35+, he came back for third in the Elite Men.
